Spa Drain
Description
In order for the pump to pump water we must get the water to it. In other words, if the water supply to a particular pump is not large enough for that pump, then the pump will only pump as much water as it is supplied.
Most standard spa drain to pump intakes on the market are 1.0", 1.5" and 2.0" which are adequate for small 1.0, 1.5, or 2.0 hp pumps. With an inefficient hydraulic design like these lots of hydraulic losses occur in the spa plumbing that you, the consumer, end up paying for in loss of performance, excessive wear on spa parts, and increased operating costs.
At Regal Spas we use two 3.0" drains per pump intake which reduces hydraulic friction, optimizes pump performance, and increases safety as mandated per UL standard 1563 and I.A.P.M.O.
We also design and produce our own drain to pump intake.
